To mark the urgent need to advance women’s equality and rights, WPL organises a set of activities to leverage its network of women leaders to advance the Generation Equality Forums (GEFs) agenda and encourage commitments to its Action Coalitions.
The Forum planned to be launched in Mexico on 7-8 May 2020 and be concluded in Paris between 7-10 July 2020 has been postponed to June 2021.
The Generation Equality Forum celebrates 25 years since the 4th – and landmark – international conference on women’s rights took place in China, launching the Beijing Platform for Action, a comprehensive framework for women’s empowerment and gender equality. In 2021, the aim of Forum Generation Equality is to assess progress made and to set out a pathway of concrete measures to achieve gender equality before 2030, as part of an intergenerational campaign called “Generation Equality: realizing women’s rights and an equal future“.
The Generation Equality Forum presents a key moment for engagement among gender equality advocates from every sector of society—governments, civil society, private sector, entrepreneurs, trade unions, artists, academia, and social influencers—to foster a global public conversation for urgent action and accountability for gender equality
Kicking off in Mexico City, Mexico, and culminating in Paris, France, in the first half of 2021, the Forum will launch a set of concrete, ambitious, and transformative actions to achieve immediate and irreversible progress towards gender equality.
