UN Commission on the Status of Women 62

The Women Political Leaders Global Forum (WPL) is organising the side session How can we do it? Best government practice on gender equality” on March 13th on the sidelines of the 62nd session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women 62 (CSW) in New York, at the Permanent Representation of Germany to the UN.

The purpose of this event is to provide data, information and examples on most effective methods for promoting women’s leadership and gender equality for government policies and actions. Presentations will focus on experiences and lessons learned from the governments of Germany and Iceland, as well as on newly published toolkit for policy makers from OECD on best practices.

WPL is delighted to welcome as speakers: Mr. Ásmundur Einar Dadason, a representative from OECD, the Minister of Social Affairs and Equality from Iceland; Ms. Elke Ferner, the Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth from Germany; Ms. Bineta Diop, President & Founder of the Femmes Africa Solidarité; Special Envoy on Women, Peace and Security for the African Union Commission; Mr. Christoph Heusgen, German Ambassador to the UN; Ms. Lisa Williams-Katz, OECD Development Co-operation Team Lead, Partnerships for Peace and Effective Institutions.
