WPL at the Girls20 Summit

The Women Political Leaders Global Forum (WPL) will join the 8th Annual G(irls)20 Summit which will take place in Munich on June 21.  This event will address the same issues which G20 leaders will discuss: digital economy, energy and climate change and nigration. The key difference will be that the G(irls)20 meeting will consider these issues with a view to increasing female labour force participation.

This event places girls and women at the heart of the economic decision making process by advancing the idea that increasing female labour force participation will generate growth, stabilize communities and countries, and lead to social innovation.

On this framework, WPL will participate at the Power Panel together with other participants.

Delegates will participate in workshops and other activities and at the end of the Summit, the delegation will provide G20 Leaders with an official Call for Action with proposals to be taken into account.

G(irls) 20

Last year’s Summit was celebrated in China and responded to the challenge of creating 100 million jobs for women by 2025. It also made a call for the G20 Leader’s 2014 commitment.
The themes of the G(irls)20 Summit are mainly focused on preparing current and future generations of girls and women for equal and sustainable job opportunities; impact investing and entrepreneurism; and maximizing growth sectors for women to gain meaningful employment.
