Alina-Ştefania Gorghiu, Minister of Justice:Gender equality has evolved from being a desideratum to being a necessity. As a fundamental human right, It is also a mandatory world goal in assuring the healthy evolution of society and prosperity. I am confident that the future will bring us closer to gender equality and women’s everyday experience shows us it is an ongoing process. As WPL Ambassador for Romania, I plead for equality of rights and opportunity and emphasize the importance of women in politics. I believe that women are efficient political leaders and I believe that is a shared responsibility!”

Bio: 

Alina-Ştefania Gorghiu is the Minister of Justice of Romania. Previously she has served as Vice President of the Senate of Romania, where she served as Chair of the Romanian Parliamentary Friendship group with the Republic of Cuba. She was a Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Committee for Romanian Communities Abroad, Parliamentary Friendship group with the Republic of Bolivia, Parliamentary Friendship group with the Republic of Finland, and Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. She has previously served as a Member of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania (2008-2016).
