Women’s participation in law and policy-making processes is particularly impactful, leading to the enactment of laws that ensure equality and greater participation of women in the workforce. This increased representation not only fosters a more inclusive political landscape but also contributes to the formulation of policies that address societal challenges more effectively.
The inaugural edition of the “Representation Matters” report, published in 2023 by Women Political Leaders (WPL) in partnership with the Oliver Wyman Forum, demonstrated that a country’s overall progress and performance are improved with greater representation of women in political leadership, as measured by the World Bank’s Women, Business, and the Law report.
Building on this initial research, Women, Business and the Law, Oliver Wyman Forum, and WPL have partnered to advance the “Representation Matters” program.
The Representation Matters session (the soft launch of the “Representation Matters 2024” flagship report) aims to preview the key findings of the report, fostering engagement and discussion on the current state of women’s representation in politics globally, the need for gender-sensitive policymaking, and the crucial role of women in political and decision-making positions. This session will promote a dynamic exchange of ideas among government representatives, policymakers, and key stakeholders from the public, private, and multilateral sectors.
