Konul Nurullayeva

Konul Nurullayeva, Member of Milli Majlis. “As a member of the Committee on Family, Women and Children at Parliament I take an active part in the preparation of draft laws and resolutions on the formation and implementation of state policy on women, family relations, protection and implementation of women’s rights and gender equality. Besides, I am a member of the Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination at PACE. Till today I attended many videoconferences on “Gender measure of foreign policy”, “Artificial intelligence”, “Women’s empowerment”, “Honour crimes against women” and shared my views and suggestions with participants. I also was a member of the Gender Equality in Sport Commission of the European Olympic Committees and currently chair the Gender Equality Committee of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation. As a WPL Ambassador for Azerbaijan, I will continue to call on women to take an active part in all spheres, encourage them to participate in decision-making centers, increase the political representation of women and support them from various platforms.”

Bio:

Konul Nurullayeva is a prominent Azerbaijani politician and sports executive with an extensive career in international relations and sports administration. Currently serving as a Member of Parliament in the Republic of Azerbaijan, she plays a pivotal role in the Parliamentary Committees on Youth and Sports, Family, Women, and Children. Since February 2020, she has been instrumental in fostering Azerbaijani-Croatian inter-parliamentary relations.

Her academic background includes a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in International Relations from Azerbaijan University of Languages and an MBA from the Swiss Business Institute. Throughout her career, Konul has demonstrated a commitment to youth development and gender equality. She has served as the Head of International Relations Department of the Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee and as a key organizer for various international sports events, including the Baku 2020 Summer Olympic Games Bid Committee.

Konul’s influence extends to international platforms as well. She is a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), contributing to committees focused on social relations, health, sustainable development, and equality. Additionally, she represents Azerbaijan in the Global Council on Tolerance and Peace and serves as the Country Ambassador to the Women Political Leaders Global Network.

Konul currently holds the position of Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation and the World Alpagut Federation, alongside her ongoing efforts in various gender equality commissions within the sports sector. Married with one child, Konul Nurullayeva continues to champion the causes of youth, women, and international cooperation in both political and athletic arenas.
