Latifa Gahouchi is senator and president of the PS (socialist) group in the Belgian Senate. She fights with conviction and determination for women’s rights and their emancipation in all areas. She chairs the Advisory Committee for Equal Opportunities between Women and Men, which she succeeded in re-establishing in 2019 in the Senate. 

She was the first woman of Arab origin to enter the Walloon Parliament, where she has been serving as an MP since 2012. She is also a member of the Parliament of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, where she currently chairs the Education Committee. 

An activist from a young age and defender of left-wing values, Latifa Gahouchi is a deeply engaged woman. Daughter of a socialist father who had to leave Morocco because he was opposed to Hassan II’s regime, she moved with her family to the Charleroi region where she has devoted herself to her city since 2007, when she became alderman for Education and Youth in Charleroi
