WIP Study Trip: Can Iceland be exported?

Saturday, March 22, 2014

The Women in Parliaments Global Forum (WIP), with the cooperation of the Parliament of Iceland, will meet in Reykjavik to study Iceland’s success in gender equality, from 3 to 4 April.

50 female Parliamentarians from all continents will gather to discuss about the policies that were needed to tackle gender inequality in Iceland -the current global leader in gender equality- and to debate about whether the Icelandic model can be exported to other regions of the world.

The WIP Study Trip’s programme includes: Plenary Sessions with Icelandic politicians, Field Visits to Icelandic companies with women in top positions, and receptions with the Prime Minister and the President of Iceland. Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, the first woman elected Head of State of the world, will receive the “WIP Award for Lifetime Achievements in Female Political Empowerment” during the Study Trip as well.

After this WIP Study Trip to Iceland, the Women in Parliaments Global Forum (WIP) will meet again in Rwanda, a country leader in female political empowerment, from 1 to 3 July 2014.
