Galina Karelova, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia | Suspended term: “The coronavirus pandemic has become a global challenge for humanity. As women political leaders, we have to join our efforts and promote international cooperation in the fight against the spread of infection as much as possible. Human life and health are the main value. Political and economic disagreements should be removed from the agenda.As the WPL Ambassador to Russia, I consider it a priority to myself to contribute the inclusion of women in healthy lifestyle promotion,  the implementation of modern health-saving technologies, as well as volunteer activities.To this end, I promote the project “Women’s Health – the well-being of the nation” and invite my colleagues for cooperation.

Bio: 

Galina Karelova is the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. Ms. Karelova serves as a Member of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy. Having served as Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Development, Ms. Karelova was actively involved in the protection of the rights of women and children. She was the coordinator of the presidential program “Children of Russia”, which aimed at rehabilitation of disabled children and providing social assistance to orphans. She additionally held the position of Chairman of the Women’s Issues Commission, focusing largely on women’s contribution to economic growth. Having been awarded for her accomplishments, she has received the Order of Honour which recognises high achievements in government.
