Women Political Leaders is pleased to partner up with Concordia for the Concordia Annual Summit 2018.

Concordia is a member-based nonprofit, nonpartisan organisation dedicated to actively fostering, elevating, and sustaining cross-sector partnerships for social impact. As equal parts convener, idea incubator, and partnership broker, Concordia aims to create a global community where challenges are solved collaboratively and inclusively.

Taking place on September 24-26, 2018 at the Grand Hyatt New York, the Concordia Annual Summit 2018 is set to be the largest and most inclusive nonpartisan forum alongside the United Nations General Assembly. Bringing together decision-makers and opinion-formers in the public, private and nonprofit sectors, as well as the next generation of partnership-builders, the Annual Summit will advance critical global discussions and transform conversations into action. As Concordia’s signature gathering, the 2018 Annual Summit will provide a powerful forum to catalyse action through shared value approaches and social impact objectives.

At the Concordia Annual Summit 2018, WPL will be hosting a plenary session with Her Excellency Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta, and Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, CEO of the World Bank. The session could be moderated by Ms. Hanna Birna Kristjánsdóttir, former Icelandic minister, mayor, and parliamentarian and current Chair of the WPL Executive Board.

President Coleiro Preca and Ms. Georgieva have broken glass ceilings to reach their respective positions in government and finance, and through their current positions committed to accelerating the progress towards gender parity.

President Coleiro Preca established The President’s Trust Foundation Malta to encourage and facilitate assistance and support needed to young people, especially young women, to improve their lives through education and training.

The World Bank Group has recently launched the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi), which creates an unprecedented opportunity to harness the public and private sectors to open new doors for women entrepreneurs across the developing world.

WPL, Concordia and The Wilson Center will also be organising the Women Lead Reception. Women leaders from around the world who are in New York to participate in UNGA and surrounding events will be invited to gather for an evening of networking.  The event will feature a number of high-level women, including current and former world leaders, corporate leaders, and nonprofit/policy leaders.

Additionally, WPL will be hosting a Social Media training in cooperation with Facebook. Aimed at beginners as well as more advanced users, this session will give an overview of ways to use Facebook to engage with constituents. The session will focus on the types of content that works well with a targeted audience, how to use tools such as Facebook Live, and how to think about measuring results. Topics such as online safety and security will also be addressed.
